What is Office Ergonomics?

The term “office ergonomics” refers to the physical effects of your workspace on your productivity, posture, and pain level. It takes into consideration the many facets of your work environment, including your computer equipment, your desk chair, and more.

If your workspace is not ergonomically correct, you could experience effects such as pain and possible nerve or tendon injury.

Body Parts Affected by Office Ergonomics

Many people associate office ergonomics and computer ergonomics with wrist injuries such as carpal tunnel. But a workplace set-up that is ergonomically incorrect could cause pain or injury to these body parts:

  • Fingers
  • Thumb
  • Wrist
  • Elbow
  • Shoulder

Conditions Often Caused by Poor Office Ergonomics

Here are some common conditions that could result from poor office ergonomics:

We have an online Amazon store where you can buy various products that can help you achieve a work environment with less pain.

Try Before You Buy

Ergonomics and computer ergonomics products can be costly, making it even more important that you find the ideal products the first time around.

Unlike many stores, LB Hand Therapy allows you to try ergonomics products before you buy them. We have a variety of samples in our office and allow patients to try them. (Please note our trial products are not for sale and all trial products must be returned to a staff member in the office after your appointment.)

If you would like to come to our office to test ergonomics products, there are a few different options. The first option is for you to come to our office and test out the different types of mice, keyboards, and chairs, with secured internet access for one hour. This service costs $45.00.

If you would like to have an ergonomic assessment by an Occupational Therapist (Ergonomic Evaluation Certification Pending), along with the one hour trial of our ergonomics products, the charge is $115.00.

You may also rent the ergonomics equipment for a full day in our office. Please note that this is only available on Fridays, from 7 am to 4 pm. The cost is $300.00. Please note that we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the charge when you make your appointment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
