You may be thinking, Another post on swelling?! But the therapists here at LB Hand Therapy have found that it can be a trigger for numerous symptoms, including pain. So, we just want to remind you to pay attention to your swelling as the weather changes. Although it has yet to be proven through research, we find that swelling can be related to weather changes.
Here are some ways to address your swelling:
- Wearing the correct compression garments. See your hand therapist for more advice regarding the proper compression garments.
- Applying ice regularly. Sometimes, depending on your symptoms and/or diagnosis we recommend icing throughout the day, 4-5 times. Only leaving the ice on for 10-15 minutes.
- Kinesiotape can also be helpful for any swelling you may be experiencing. Your hand therapist can show you how to tape your hand/wrist.
